(Bergamasco et al., 2018; McMillan, 2019).
Psychogenic shock in animals is a complex reaction of the body, formed in response to excessive psycho-emotional stress, fear, painful stimuli or extreme environmental conditions. Such conditions can occur during combat operations, transportation, cruel treatment, attacks by predators, natural disasters, as well as during veterinary manipulations in highly sensitive animals. In modern conditions, the problem of psychogenic shock in animals that are in a war zone or have been exposed to prolonged stress is of particular importance. The pathogenesis of psychogenic shock is based on excessive activation of the sympathoadrenal and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal systems, which is accompanied by massive release of catecholamines, impaired microcirculation, development of tissue hypoxia, metabolic acidosis and functional changes in the central nervous system (Bergamasco et al., 2018; McMillan, 2019). Prolonged or excessive neurohumoral stimulation can lead to exhaustion of adaptive mechanisms, development of vascular insufficiency and multiorgan disorders.
