Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common endocrinopathies in small domestic animals, characterized by persistent hyperglycemia resulting from an absolute or relative insulin deficiency. In dogs, the course of diabetes mellitus is accompanied by profound disturbances in carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism, leading to systemic damage to target organs—specifically the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and the vascular system. A notable feature of this endocrinopathy in dogs is a high rate of polymorbidity (including pancreatitis, hepatopathies, pyometra, and nephropathies), which significantly complicates the stabilization of the glycemic profile. Laboratory blood analysis serves as the primary tool for assessing the degree of metabolic decompensation and the severity of internal complications. The objective of this study is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the morphological and biochemical blood parameters in dogs with diabetes mellitus to determine the nature and extent of the pathological changes occurring within the body.
