Description: Dental pathologies in small companion animals, particularly cats and dogs, are quite commonly encountered in veterinary practice. The most frequently diagnosed conditions include gingivitis, dental calculus, periodontitis, abnormalities of tooth eruption and replacement, neoplasia, trauma, and foreign bodies within the oral cavity. Accurate diagnosis is the foundation of successful treatment; therefore, it is extremely important to differentiate these pathologies from one another. Performing radiographic diagnostics, both general and dental, is an extremely important aspect in establishing a definitive diagnosis of dental pathologies. The condition of the tooth roots and bone tissue cannot be assessed through external visual examination alone. During 2025, the total number of animals admitted to the "Wild Animals" veterinary clinic reached 289 patients, of which 33 animals presented with dental pathologies, accounting for 11.4% of the total number of animals. According to the monitoring of the prevalence of dental pathologies among small companion animals, gingivitis was most frequently diagnosed in cats, accounting for 27.3% of the total number of cats with dental diseases; in dogs, the most common finding was a combination of dental calculus and periodontitis, representing 31.8% of all dogs with dental pathologies. Treatment was prescribed individually, taking into account the specific pathology and the general condition of the animal, but usually included surgical intervention, ultrasonic dental cleaning, and pharmacological therapy.
