| Abstract: | The article focuses on English phraseologisms related to the designation of work and labor activity. Phraseological units not only reflect the reality and express the attitude of speakers of a particular language to certain fragments of the world, but also reproduce from generation to generation cultural and national attitudes and traditions of the people - the native speaker. And the etymological approach in the study of vocabulary and phraseology of language provides rich material for the study of linguocultural features of a particular linguistic community. It has long been observed by linguists that animal images are actively used to characterize different qualities and behavior of humans. |
| Description: | У статті основна увага звертається на англійські фразеологізми, пов'язані з позначенням праці та трудової діяльності. Фразеологічні одиниці не тільки відображають дійсність і виражають ставлення носіїв певної мови до тих чи інших фрагментів світу, а й відтворюють з покоління в покоління культурно -національні установки і традиції народу - носія мови. А етимологічний підхід у вивченні лексики і фразеології мови дає багатий матеріал для вивчення лінгвокультурологічних особливостей того чи іншого мовного співтовариства. Лінгвістами давно було помічено, що образи тварин активно використовуються для характеристики різних якостей і поведінки людини. |
