Self-Sufficiency As An Indicator Of Ukraine‘s Food Security

Abstract

Food self-sufficiency involves satisfying the bulk of food intake at the expense of domestic production. which is the basis for the characteristic self-sufficiency index at the macro level. At the micro level, it is characterized by the degree of satisfaction of members of the household due to the receipt of major types of food from the management of personal peasant farms. It is proved that the mechanisms of targeted food support in Ukraine are practically not used. The provision of domestic food aid through the sphere of social nutrition in Ukraine is carried out in all subjects, but its level is extremely insufficient. It is established that in the conditions of economic instability, personal peasant farms will be forced to remain at leading positions in food security and will be one of the main sources of cash inflows to the family budget.
