| Abstract: | У сучасному перекладознавстві однією з актуальних є проблема перекладу фразеологічних одиниць із культурним компонентом. Метою дослідження є аналіз когнітивних аспектів збереження культурного коду в англо-українському фразеологічному перекладі. У процесі дослідження з’ясовано, як види перекладу фразеологізмів впливають на збереження культурного коду. Зокрема, повний або майже повний переклад, а також повна і часткова еквівалентність створюють умови для збереження культурного коду в англо-українському перекладі фразеологічних одиниць. Однак за відсутності еквівалента культурний код фразеологізму при перекладі не зберігається. Визначено основні концепти англійських фразеологізмів із культурологічним компонентом, культурний код у яких створюється передусім на базі топонімічних (Newcastle), релігійних (White elephant, Holy Grail), міфологічних (Midas, Pandora), національних (Bandwagon, Riot Act, Uncle Sam), історичних (Yankee, Waterloo) образів. Аналіз типів англо-українського перекладу фразеологізмів показав, що переважають такі типи перекладу, як адаптація (за значенням і концептуальна), описовий переклад, фразеологічна заміна, повний еквівалент. Проаналізовано когнітивні аспекти у формуванні фразеологізмів української та англійської мов, до яких належать концептуальні схеми й культурні символи. У дослідженні було розроблено структуру концептуальної схеми для фразеологічних одиниць із культурним кодом: ситуація > ментальний образ > наслідок > культурний код. Наприклад, було побудовано такі концептуальні схеми на основі англо-українського перекладу фразеологічних одиниць, як скринька > відкриття > вихід зла > лихо; старт > шлях > перешкода > повернення до старту; високий статус > гріх > падіння > покарання. Практичне значення отриманих результатів полягає в можливості використання моделі дослідження когнітивних аспектів збереження культурного коду не лише в англо-українському фразеологічному перекладі, а й у перекладі з інших мов. Перспективи подальших досліджень полягають у здійсненні міждисциплінарних досліджень фразеологічних одиниць на межі когнітивної лінгвістики, перекладознавства й лінгвокуль-турології. |
| Description: | In modern translation studies, one of the key problems is the translation of phraseological units with a cultural component. The aim of the study is to analyze the cognitive aspects of preserving the cultural code in English-Ukrainian phraseological translation. As a result, it was found out how the types of phraseological unit translation affect the preservation of the cultural code. Thus, with full or almost full translation, full and partial equivalence make it possible to preserve the cultural code in the English-Ukrainian translation of phraseological units. However, in the absence of an equivalent, the cultural code of the phraseological unit is not preserved during translation. The key concepts of English phraseological units with a cultural component are identified, the cultural code in which is created primarily on the basis of toponymic (Newcastle), religious (White elephant, Holy Grail), mythological (Midas, Pandora), national (Bandwagon, Riot Act, Uncle Sam), historical (Yankee, Waterloo) images. Analysis of the types of English-Ukrainian translation of phraseological units showed that such types of translation as adaptation (both in meaning and conceptual), descriptive translation, phraseological replacement, full equivalent prevail. Cognitive aspects in the formation of phraseological units of the Ukrainian and English languages were analyzed, which include conceptual schemes and cultural symbols. The study developed the structure of the conceptual scheme for phraseological units with a cultural code: situation > mental image > consequence > cultural code. For example, the following conceptual schemes were built on the basis of the English-Ukrainian translation of phraseological units: box > opening > exit of evil > disaster; start > path > obstacle > return to the start; high status > sin > fall > punishment. The practical significance of the results obtained lies in the possibility of using the model for studying the cognitive aspects of preserving the cultural code not only in English-Ukrainian phraseological translation, but also in translation from other languages. Prospects for further research are based on the need to conduct interdisciplinary studies of phraseological units at the intersection of cognitive linguistics, translation studies, and linguoculturology. |
